Fall 2016 Soccer Kickoff

Hello St. Barnabas Soccer Families,

Thank you for your patience as we've worked through the updates for the fall soccer season. We are excited to be introducing some new features to the program. We are going to kick off the fall program with an exciting event on Saturday, September 10 as described below.

Additional information about the fall program beyond the 10th will be distributed sometime next week including rosters and schedules. For students participating in the St Walters or Most Holy Redeemer leagues, you will be contacted directly by your coaches - Steve Stanczak, Jeff Petto or Andre Chancellor. For families attending the Fire game the night of September 10, you will also be contacted directly with more information.

Fall Soccer Kickoff - Saturday, September 10:

All students will be participating in the fall soccer kickoff (including both the in-house and league teams) which will include the following events:

  • Uniform distribution and meet your teammates and coaches. Try to arrive 15 - 20 minutes before your session begins to get your uniform and meet your team.
  • Soccer skills camp by age group coordinated by the Chicago Fire club coaches.
  • Skills camp will include age and skill-appropriate activities and instruction for both students and coaches to use in their practice and game instruction.
  • FSA Spirit Wear table with new gear available and more surprises
  • One thing each family needs to fill out is the release form required by the Fire for them to conduct the clinic. Please print and complete and bring to the event on the 10th. Fire Clinic Waiver

The Fall Soccer Kickoff schedule is as follows:
  • 8:30 - 9:30 - PreK and Kindergarten students
  • 9:30 - 10:30 - First and Second grade students
  • 10:30 - 11:30 - Third and Fourth grade students
  • 11:30 - 12:30 - Fifth through Eighth grade students

All students should arrive "ready for soccer" which includes soccer shoes (or gym shoes), shin guards, a soccer ball and water. We do have quite a few balls but probably not enough for every student so please bring a ball if you have one (and don't forget to put your name on it).

A few other notes:

  • I will be reaching out for volunteers to help set up for the fall soccer kickoff, help with uniform distribution and also help the FSA staff the spirit wear table.
  • Homecoming is on the 10th as well and car/float decoration will be occurring in the parking lot at the same time as soccer. Therefore the parking lot may be very full that day. Please plan extra time to get to the soccer event that morning and consider walking or parking on Walden or on 101st or 102nd streets to keep the parking lot from getting too crowded.

Please reach out if you have any questions. Thanks!
